Creating A Healthy Internship
Tuesday, April 29th, 2008Getting an internship can be hard and time consuming, but once you find one you need to make sure that you are a good intern. I have done three internships and there are a few key things I have learned from them. First, everywhere I have interned people are more than happy to help you learn new things once. After about one time they usually expect you to know how to complete the process. It might seem elementary, but taking notes your first day of training is not a bad idea.
In addition to learning quickly, if you want to get the most out of your internship and you want to be a great intern, be proactive and ask if there is anything you can do to help. Not only will you learn more, but also the office staff will begin to trust you with more and more. Always go above expectations as well. It may seem obvious, but a lot of times interns just show up and wait for people to ask them to do something. Being a successful intern requires more than intellectual capabilities; it requires you to learn quickly, be proactive, and go above expectations.
