Careers In Health And Other Fields

Choosing a career is not something you should do on a whim. It will be a huge part of your life and you should use whatever tools are available to you. Some resources available to help you choose your career path are personality assessments, career counselors, and internships. There are a lot of books about personality assessments and there are also online assessments that are free. If you simply Google personality assessment, thousands of tests you can take will come up.

Career counselors are usually only available to students who will be graduating soon. It is so important that you meet with your career counselor if you are a student because not only do they have tips about choosing a great career, they usually have contacts within organizations that recruit on your campus. The best way to determine what type of career you want is by doing internships. A lot of times the best thing you will learn from an internship is that you hate a certain kind of work. Every internship you do is beneficial; even if you hate the actual internship you can still put it on your resume.

Dr. Oz and Açai

Nationally renowned surgeon and award-winning author, Dr. Oz, says people should eat about five servings of antioxidant-rich foods a day. Dr. Oz appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in February 2008 to discuss some of these foods and to reveal his Ultimate Anti-Aging Checklist.

“All foods with dark colors in them have some of these really protecting antioxidant chemicals in them,” he said.

Dr. Oz recommended sweet potatoes, broccoli, and tomatoes as good anti-aging foods. He also introduced a new entry to his hall of fame—the açai berry!

“It has twice the antioxidant content as a blueberry,” Dr. Oz said. “It’s just breaking through.”

Create A Healthy Workplace

Avoiding all politics in your place of work is nearly impossible. There is always going to be the employee who does everything for their own power, not for the good of the company. However, we can try to prevent politics by doing a few things. First, do not hire overly political people. In interviews, a lot of interviewers ask questions about how you work with teams. They are trying to see if you are cooperative and will not try to manipulate everyone for your self-interests.

Also, it is important to make sure everyone in your business knows what his or her role is. If someone does not understand his or her line of sight, or what they add to the company, it will be both easier for them to be taken advantage of and also it will be more tempting for them to try and uses politics on someone else. Everyone needs to be one the same page in terms of the company’s goals. Another tip I have heard is to tell your employees to only do what they would be comfortable doing on national television. It is a good rule of thumb for employees to follow if they do not know what type of politics are unacceptable.
