Make Television Healthy And Educational
Saturday, October 11th, 2008Many children are being raised by television. Every child has watched at least some T.V., and usually it is not very educational. It is much easier for parents to put a movie on or let their child watch cartoons then to force them to play with a toy or make them play outside where they would most likely need some supervision. While their child watches T.V., it is like a time out and it allows the parent to work on other things. T.V. has become part of our culture and not owning one or not allowing your child to watch it is a nice idea, but it is for the most part impossible.
So assuming your children are going to watch some T.V., you might as well use it as a tool for their education. There are a few educational shows for children if you look for them. I remember when I was a kid I watched Bill Nye the Science Guy and The Magic School Bus. These shows were still entertaining and I actually learned something from them. Every generation has popular cartoons; some are educational, some are not. Trying to find the instructional shows for your children will pay dividends in the future.
