Cardio Training
Saturday, September 22nd, 2007Cardio training means training your heart, and it is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Cardio training is easy; the simplest way to think about it is to think about your heart as a muscle. Muscles are strengthened best by interval training, during which they are repeatedly used and then rested.
To strengthen your heart, begin by performing an exercise that makes it beat a little faster. This can be a short run, a walk up a hill, or a bike ride around the block. Next, rest, but just for a few moments. Then repeat the whole process again.
The best way for most people to assess their cardio training levels is to invest in a heart monitor. Heart monitors offer an easy way to measure heart rate, and some of the more advanced models suggest things you should do to increase your results, such as holding your heart rate at a certain point for longer periods of time, timing your rest breaks, etc.
