Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is therapy involving scents. These scents stimulate the mind and body, encouraging relaxation, concentration, energy, or restfulness based on what scent it is. Aromatherapy comes in the form of candles, heating essential oils, or even using the oils as a body massage.

Aromatherapy uses plant oils called “essential” oils, from the essence of the plant, that benefit people psychologically and physically. Essential oils are not the same as perfumes, which are made from chemical and synthetic ingredients. In holistic aromatherapy, synthetic ingredients and chemicals are never used. Other natural ingredients, like jojoba, herbs, milk powders, and sea salts can be used as well.

Aromatherapy is conducted by professionals at spas and healing centers. Aromatherapy ingredients can also be purchased at most holistic stores and spas to use at home.
