Get Your Gifts To Fit

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

With each holiday season comes a new toy or something that every child must have. I have no idea what it is going to be this year, but I do know of some really cool gadgets that are coming out. Although reviews for the Blackberry Storm have been mediocre, I am still really excited to see another capable touch screen phone besides the iPhone. Another great gift idea is wireless headphones. Everyone hates the little white cord from their ears to their pocket, and finally that can be removed.

Key chain finders are finally becoming prevalent and cheap, and anyone who has that friend who always loses keys or their wallet should look into one of those. Wireless security cameras are also getting cheap. You can use them in your office or home, or just play with them with your kids. If none of those suggestions work, then just go to the Apple Store, practically everything there is cool. With so many great deals on the Internet for really neat gifts, the gift certificate probably will not cut it this year.

A Healthy Family Plays Games

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

The holidays provide many opportunities to play games with your family. My family has a few card games we play over and over again. We play a modified version of Uno, called Slap Uno mostly. Many people play similar types of games that have different names, but if you are looking for a card game to play with your family, I recommend slap Uno. If you have never played regular Uno, I would check out the directions for that before attempting to play the modified version.

Slap Uno is the same as regular Uno except with one obvious difference, you slap cards. What this means is that if someone plays a blue three, and you have a blue three you can “slap” your blue three on top, and then the next person to play is the person who would normally play after you. The cards have to be exactly the same for you to be able to slap. For instance, if I have a yellow reverse and you have a blue reverse, you cannot slap it. You can slap wilds as well, but we limit it to two draw fours, just to be nice. This makes what is normally a child’s game really fast and exciting. It forces you to pay attention to ever card played, and not simply wait for your turn. Try it out this holiday season.
