Healthy Habits Keep You Fit

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I recently attended Body World. It is an art show of “plastified” real human bodies. There were exhibits on the heart, fetus development, joints, bones, and everything else in our body. What caught my attention was the heart exhibit. Here, various hearts were displayed, such as a healthy heart, one with a heart disease, and an athlete’s heart. An athlete’s heart can grow larger than 17 lbs, more than twice an average heart size. The heart is like any other muscle, the more you use it the larger and stronger it will become.

This is why fitness is so important. If are not active and therefore are physically fit, it is not only your outside appearance that starts to deteriorate, it is your organs and heart as well. Fitness is so important to your overall health. Also while I was at Body World, I realized how many things can go wrong in our bodies as well, and the likelihood greatly increases if you are not an active person and you have poor eating habits. There are so many things that have to go right each day for us to continue to live; the least we can do is help our body out by exercising.
