Create A Healthy Workplace

Avoiding all politics in your place of work is nearly impossible. There is always going to be the employee who does everything for their own power, not for the good of the company. However, we can try to prevent politics by doing a few things. First, do not hire overly political people. In interviews, a lot of interviewers ask questions about how you work with teams. They are trying to see if you are cooperative and will not try to manipulate everyone for your self-interests.

Also, it is important to make sure everyone in your business knows what his or her role is. If someone does not understand his or her line of sight, or what they add to the company, it will be both easier for them to be taken advantage of and also it will be more tempting for them to try and uses politics on someone else. Everyone needs to be one the same page in terms of the company’s goals. Another tip I have heard is to tell your employees to only do what they would be comfortable doing on national television. It is a good rule of thumb for employees to follow if they do not know what type of politics are unacceptable.
