Aromatherapy

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Aromatherapy is therapy involving scents. These scents stimulate the mind and body, encouraging relaxation, concentration, energy, or restfulness based on what scent it is. Aromatherapy comes in the form of candles, heating essential oils, or even using the oils as a body massage.

Aromatherapy uses plant oils called “essential” oils, from the essence of the plant, that benefit people psychologically and physically. Essential oils are not the same as perfumes, which are made from chemical and synthetic ingredients. In holistic aromatherapy, synthetic ingredients and chemicals are never used. Other natural ingredients, like jojoba, herbs, milk powders, and sea salts can be used as well.

Aromatherapy is conducted by professionals at spas and healing centers. Aromatherapy ingredients can also be purchased at most holistic stores and spas to use at home.

Spa and Spa Therapy

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Spas are a great place to go to get treated naturally. Many spas offer aromatherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and other natural healing techniques that promote healthy energy and eliminate stress, toxins, and other harmful agents in the body.

Spa therapy is becoming increasingly more popular, and most cities offer at least one spa that provides a variety of services. Spa therapy is one of the best ways to practice natural healing and spas are a great place to purchase organic, healthy products.

When choosing a spa, select one that offers a variety of services provided by expert staff. Ask what type of training staff members have received, and how long they have been practicing. Next, schedule an appointment at a spa on your day off; try to dedicate the whole day to being restful and healthy. Wear comfortable clothing, and if the spa doesn’t offer sandals (most do) bring your own. Don’t wear makeup; it will just come off in the sauna or during your massage. Finally, remember to tip your therapist!
